Value-based Health Care Defined
What is Value-based Health Care?
Value-based healthcare is a healthcare delivery and payment model that focuses on maximizing the quality of patient outcomes while minimizing costs. It shifts the traditional fee-for-service approach towards rewarding healthcare providers based on the value they provide to patients rather than the volume of services delivered.
In value-based healthcare, emphasis is placed on measuring and improving patient health outcomes, patient experience, and the overall cost-effectiveness of care. This approach encourages healthcare providers to prioritize preventive care, care coordination, and evidence-based practices to deliver higher quality care at a lower cost, ultimately aiming to enhance the overall health and well-being of patients.
