FAQs
What types of patients do you see?
MindHealthy is best suited for individuals with mental health needs that are mild to moderate in severity. We partner with you to help manage the vast majority of patients with behavioral health and substance use issues that commonly present in primary care. These include major depression, adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. Our therapists provide evidence-based, time-limited psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and if clinically appropriate, our psychiatric consultants can provide treatment and medication recommendations.
Safety is paramount and MindHealthy is not designed to manage severe psychiatric illnesses such as acute suicidality, active mania, psychosis, and severe personality disorders requiring a higher level of care. In the case of severe illness, our team can help partner with you to recommend the appropriate level of care.
Do you see patients of all ages?
MindHealthy will evaluate patients younger than 12 years old for appropriateness. However, the most common age that is successful for virtual therapy is 12 years old and older.
Do you only do therapy?
At MindHealthy, we provide support for care management services, administration of validated rating scales, and development of individualized treatment plans. We collaborate with psychiatric nurse practitioners for consultation and provide brief interventions, utilizing evidence-based techniques. While we may offer medication recommendations upon requests, we do not engage in medication prescribing.
Do you prescribe medications?
No. Mind Healthy cannot prescribe medications. We can make medication recommendations, as the PCP is the prescriber in this model.
How long are the sessions?
Once the patient is enrolled, MindHealthy sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Ideally, totaling around 120 minutes per month.
Billing:
Do you accept my insurance?
Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) is covered under medical benefits and billed by the referring provider. All major commercial payors, Medicare, Medicaid and managed care plans are covering CoCM services. Patients may be responsible for copays similar to what they would pay for a primary care visit. MindHealthy conducts an insurance eligibility check and can provide the CPT codes if patients wish to inquire about specific coverage information from payors.
What is the billing process for services rendered at MindHealthy as part of CoCM?
CoCM codes are billed by the referring provider/ Primary Care Provider. Billing for these services is determined by the work performed and the total number of minutes spent by a behavior care manager (BCM) over the course of a given month (Bundled Service). This information is then provided to the referring provider in a detailed billing report.
