March was National Colon Cancer Awareness Month. One of One Health’s own team members, Adi Melendez, was recently diagnosed with stage IIB colon cancer. Her OH colleagues came out strong in support of Adi recently for Dress in Blue Day, for #ColonCancerAwareness. Decked out in blue, OH teammates had signs, t-shirts, and commitments of support! See OH photo section for additional photos.
Adi also had the support of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) and the Empower Program. The Empower program is a collaboration between GI Oncology and AH LCI Department of Supportive Oncology, Department for Genetics and the ReHope program with the Women’s Institute. The program and her OH teammates have been a fundamental part of her care. Adi recently stated, “They’ve linked met to all necessary resources” including a support group.
Support for others is what One Health is all about. #Strongertogether!
Let’s continue to support one another and to cheer each other on every day! The One Health Way!
