You may be asking yourself, “Why are we sending a Special Edition newsletter on value-based care??”
It is a great question! We all know that healthcare costs are rising for our patients. Payers, including Medicare, are trying to address costs by replacing traditional fee-for-service payment models. We also know that we have heard messages about value in some shape or form for almost a decade now.
For many of you, value-based care may be like a “four-letter word” depending on your prior experience. We believe that One Health providers are the best at providing true value to their patients and the communities they serve. With an open access model and Care for All mission, One Health has an excellent track record of providing high-quality care while keeping unnecessary costs down. As we look to 2023 and beyond, One Health is embarking on a “new” value journey that will reshape the way we care for patients in the future and prevent provider and team member burn-out. For the first time in our existence, One Health will participate in an advanced form of a value-based care contract called ACO REACH (explained more below). While most of the work for the new contract will take place behind the scenes, it will be important for us all to understand the basic concepts and definitions. Working with our value partner CHESS, it is our goal to alleviate some of the current burden instead of adding more work to your already busy schedules.
Our ask of you is to familiarize yourself with the information below and to continue the awesome work you are already doing. As we progress into 2023, our team will continue to provide you with educational resources and begin to build the support team around you to get the work done.
